Understanding Your Home Statistics (and the Revenue Graph)

Your Home page gives you a monthly snapshot of your activity: how many opportunities came your way, how you responded, how many turned into bookings, and the value of those bookings. This article explains each number so you always know what you're looking at, including why Revenue can sometimes show a negative or an empty month.

Everything on the Home page is calculated per calendar month. Each month has its own figures, and they settle shortly after the month ends, when that month's calculation runs.

The four cards at the top

Available requests The total number of client requests that came in within your service area during the month, whether or not they were sent to you. This is the size of the opportunity around you, not the requests you personally received. It's normal for this to be a large number.

Received requests The requests that were actually sent to you to propose on that month. This is a subset of Available requests. If Received is a lot lower than Available, it usually comes down to ranking, your distance from the client, your availability, and how many other chefs are nearby. Keeping your profile complete, responding quickly, and maintaining strong reviews all help you receive more.

Sent proposals How many proposals you sent to clients during the month. You don't have to propose on every request, so this is often lower than Received requests.

Closed proposals How many of your proposals became confirmed bookings during the month. This is a count of bookings won, not an amount.

The Revenue graph

The graph shows your booking value for each month: the total value of the bookings you secured that month, shown in your account's currency (for example, USD). Each bar is one month.

Two things are important to know about this number:

  • It's the gross booking value, not your payout. It reflects the full value of your bookings before Take a Chef's commission and any adjustments. What you actually receive is lower and follows the payout schedule, so the Revenue figure and your payouts won't match one-to-one.
  • It's grouped by when money is processed. A payment counts in the month it's processed. A refund or cancellation counts in the month it is processed, which may be different from the month of the original booking.

Why is my Revenue negative for a month?

A negative bar means a booking that was counted in an earlier month was later refunded or cancelled, and that refund was processed in this month. Because a refund subtracts from booking value, a month that has a refund and no new bookings can end up negative.

For example: a booking is paid in December and shows as a positive amount that month. If that booking is refunded the following June, the refund shows as a negative amount in June, the month the refund was processed, not in December.

A negative Revenue is not a charge to you and not a penalty. It simply reverses the value of a booking that didn't go ahead, and it only affects that month's Revenue figure.

That's also why you can see Closed proposals: 0 and a negative Revenue in the same month, a refund reverses a past booking's value but isn't a new booking, so it lowers Revenue without changing your booking count.

Why is a month empty or zero?

An empty or zero bar simply means you had no booking value that month, for example no new bookings, or bookings that netted to zero. Quiet months are completely normal.

Why does my graph stop at a certain month, with nothing after it?

A month only appears once its statistics have been generated for your account. If the most recent month is missing:

  • Your account was active: the month's calculation may not have finalized yet. It should appear in the first days of the following month.
  • The graph hasn't shown new months for a while: this usually means your account was inactive, paused, or deactivated during those months, so no monthly statistics were generated for you.

If you believe your account is active and a recent month is still missing, contact support with your account email and we'll check it for you.

Why don't these numbers match my other screens?

The Home section is a monthly summary and counts different things than your other screens:

  • Your request list shows individual services; the Home cards count opportunities and bookings for the month.
  • Your payouts are net of commission and follow the payout schedule; the Revenue graph is gross booking value grouped by processing date.

So small differences are expected. If a specific figure still looks wrong after that, contact support with your account email and the month in question.

Need an official statement?

The Revenue figure on your Home page is a summary, not an official earnings or payout statement. If you need a detailed statement for a specific month, contact support and tell us which month you need.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Home section show me? The Home section is a monthly snapshot of your activity on the platform. It shows how many client requests were available in your area, how many were sent to you, how many proposals you sent, how many became confirmed bookings, and your booking value for the month (shown as "Revenue"). These figures are recalculated every month, so each month has its own numbers.

How often are my Home statistics updated? Your stats are calculated per calendar month. A month's figures settle shortly after that month ends, when the monthly calculation runs (usually early in the following month). The most recent month can still move a little while new bookings, payments or refunds are being processed.

What does "Available requests" mean? It's the total number of client requests that came in within your service area during the month, whether or not they were sent to you. Think of it as the size of the opportunity around you that month, not the requests you personally received.

Why is "Available requests" higher than the requests I actually got? Available requests counts every request in your area, while Received requests counts only the ones sent to you. Not every request in your area is routed to every chef. How many you receive depends on your ranking, your distance from the client, your availability, and how many other chefs are nearby.

What does "Received requests" mean? It's the number of requests that were actually sent to you to propose on during the month. It's a subset of Available requests.

How can I receive more requests? Receiving more requests mostly comes down to your ranking. Keep your profile complete, respond to requests quickly, maintain good guest reviews, and keep your availability up to date. These all help you rank higher and be matched to more requests.

What does "Sent proposals" mean? It's how many proposals you sent to clients during the month.

Why are my sent proposals lower than the requests I received? You don't have to send a proposal for every request. Sent proposals counts only the requests you actually responded to with a proposal that month, so it's normal for it to be lower than Received requests.

What does "Closed proposals" mean? It's how many of your proposals became confirmed bookings during the month, meaning the client booked and formalized the service. It's shown as a count, not an amount.

My Closed proposals is 0 but I know I had a booking recently. Why? Closed proposals counts bookings that were formalized within that specific month. A booking confirmed in a different month is counted in that month, not this one. If a confirmed booking still seems to be missing entirely, contact support with your account email and the service date.

What does the Revenue graph show? It shows your booking value for each month: the total value of the bookings you secured that month, in your account's currency. Each bar is one month. It reflects the gross value of your bookings, not your final payout after commission.

Is "Revenue" the amount I'll actually be paid? No. Revenue is the gross booking value of your bookings. Your actual payout is that amount minus Take a Chef's commission and any adjustments, and it follows the payout schedule. So the Revenue figure and what you receive won't match one-to-one. For payout details, see the payout article or contact support.

What currency is my Revenue shown in? It's shown in your account's currency (for example, USD). It isn't converted into other currencies.

Why did the value for the current or most recent month change since I last looked? The latest month can still move while bookings, payments and refunds are being processed and the month's calculation finalizes. Once the month is fully closed, the figure settles.

Why is my Revenue negative for a month? A negative Revenue means a booking that was counted in an earlier month was later refunded or cancelled, and the refund was recorded in this month. Because a refund subtracts from booking value, a month with a refund and no new bookings can show a negative total. For example, a booking paid in one month and refunded months later shows as a negative amount in the month the refund was processed.

Does a negative Revenue mean I was charged or penalized? No. It's not a charge to you and it's not a penalty. It simply reverses the value of a booking that didn't go ahead. It only affects the Revenue figure for that month, not your account standing.

My Closed proposals shows 0 but Revenue is negative. How is that possible? A refund reverses the value of a past booking, but it isn't a new booking, so it lowers your Revenue without adding anything to Closed proposals. That's why you can see 0 closed proposals and a negative Revenue in the same month.

The refunded booking was from a different month. Why does it affect this month? Revenue is grouped by the date the payment or refund is actually processed, not by the date of the original booking. So a refund lands in the month it happens, even if the booking it reverses was months earlier.

Why does my Revenue graph stop at a certain month and show nothing after it? A month only appears once its stats have been generated for your account. If the most recent month is missing, either that month's calculation hasn't finalized yet, or your account wasn't active when that month's stats were generated. If your account is active and a recent month is still missing after the first days of the new month, contact support.

My graph hasn't shown new months for a while. What does that mean? This usually means your account was inactive, paused or deactivated during those months, so no monthly stats were generated for you. If you believe your account is active and data is still missing, contact support with your account email.

A month in the middle of my graph is empty or zero. Is something wrong? No. An empty or zero bar just means you had no booking value that month, for example no new bookings, or bookings that netted to zero. Quiet months are normal.

My Home numbers don't match what I expected. Why? The Home section is a monthly summary and counts different things than your request list or payout records. Requests and booking value are opportunity and gross-value figures, while your request list shows individual services and your payouts show net amounts. If a specific figure still looks wrong after that, contact support with your account email and the month.

My Revenue doesn't match my payouts. Which one is right? Both are right, they just measure different things. Revenue is the gross booking value grouped by processing date. Payouts are net of commission and follow the payout schedule, so the two won't line up one-to-one. For a payout breakdown, contact support.

Can I get a revenue or earnings statement for a specific month? The Revenue figure on your Home page is a summary, not an official statement. If you need a detailed earnings or payout statement for a specific month, contact support and let them know which month you need.
