Customizing Your Request Settings on Take a Chef
Take control over the services you sign up for
At Take a Chef, we think you shine brightest when you align your preferences to match your interests and skills. Other than your Calendar and Radius of action, there are many settings you can tweak to ensure you only get the type of requests you want. Learn how with this guide.
Your Request Settings Menu
To begin with, you need to familiarize yourself with the Request settings menu on your Take a Chef dashboard. This menu contains two main customization options: Budget tiers and Cuisine types.
Choosing Cuisine Styles
When customizing your offerings, you should play to your strengths and align them with cuisines that you're passionate about. However, it's a smart move to pay attention to your market and offer the most popular cuisines in your region to ensure your profile stays attractive.
Set Your Price Ranges
Do you aim to work within a certain budget? Then select the correct options on your settings. After doing a cost-effectiveness analysis for your services, you can decide which Budget tiers your offerings fall into. Service requests with a budget outside your preferences will not be sent to you.
Budget tiers mark the average price a guest is willing to pay for their service. Costs still increase with the number of guests, but all within the range for each tier. Cuisine types are shown to our guests while submitting their requests so they can choose the one they’re interested in.
Define Group Sizes
Whether you prefer larger groups for a wider margin or smaller parties for a better performance, use your settings to specify the maximum and minimum number of guests you're interested in serving. You can even select different party size preferences for each type of cuisine.
How it works
Here is a step-by-step guide to set up your Request settings:
- Navigate to your "Request settings" section.
- Customize according to your preferences:
- Average price per group size—This section is merely informative and designed to help you understand each budget type.
- Menu selection—For better results and specificity, make sure you detail your preferences on each menu.
- Important—All Menu selection settings are automatically enabled and shown in blue. If you don't want to get requests for a specific cuisine, budget, or party size, click on it to disable them on your profile. They will turn white when disabled.
- Save changes.
Let's say you are interested in service requests for French Cuisine exclusively within the Temptation (Medium) or Exclusive (High) budget tiers and for parties larger than 2 guests. Your preferences should look like this:
By adjusting your preferences, you can opt out of a specific budget tier or cuisine, allowing you to work smartly and concentrate on what's important to you. However, before you start customizing them, you might want to consider these tips:
- Be strategic—If you're a new private Chef, being open to all budgets and group sizes can help you book more gigs. Keep in mind that Basic and Temptation budget requests make up the majority of the site's services. Get booked, gain reviews to boost your visibility, and make your profile more appealing.
- Meal time frames—You can also personalize the time frames you want to work with: Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner. If you are unable or simply not interested in working during either of these, you can remove its availability from your profile. This way, you can prioritize services in your preferred time frames and leave room for management and preparations.
